Through legal research and analysis, advocacy campaigns and education, we seek to promote the rights of people living with, affected by, and/or vulnerable to HIV in the UK. Our work is based on international human rights law and UN HIV-specific standards (International Guidelines on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights and the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS). Our current work focuses on some key areas: HIV and human rights; sex work; prison; and injecting drug use. Through our AIDS and Education Project we inform and educate the public (including young people) about HIV and human rights. We also provide accessible information about HIV and UK human rights law, especially around the Human Rights Act. We are also supporting and working with the Africa Campaign on Disability and HIV & AIDS which aims to reduce the vulnerability of disabled people to the impact of HIV and AIDS by promoting HIV policies, programmes, information and services that genuinely include them.
